How to Set Up the BBPOS Chipper 2X BT Mobile Card Reader

The BBPOS Chipper 2X BT mobile card reader allows you to process physical credit cards and debit cards in connection with your mobile device to take Billing Manager or POS Payments. For laptops and desktop computers, use the Wise POS E card reader instead.

  1. Ensure that your mobile device has Bluetooth turned on.

    • For iOS, within Settings > Privacy > Bluetooth, activate GoMotion.

  2. Make sure that the Chipper 2X is charged.

    • Micro USB charging cord included. Note it is only used for charging; you cannot connect it to a mobile device.

  3. Press and release the power button to turn on the Chipper 2X. The LED status light turns on to indicate power.

  4. When checking out in the mobile app, scroll down on the Payment Methods screen and select Pay directly via terminal reader.

  5. Under Mobile Credit Card Readers, Chipper 2x should show.

    • If it does not show after a few moments and you see Discover readers... below that instead, first ensure your mobile device and Chipper 2X are within Bluetooth range of each other, then try turning the Chipper off and back on.

  6. Tap START.

  7. If you get a dialog asking to allow access to your location, tap Allow.

    • If you do not do this, you will get an error when using the reader.

  8. Tap, swipe, or insert the card in the reader to finish the transaction.
